Facebook overtakes Google

If you need proof of the importance of Social Media in your online strategy then here it is - Facebook was the most visited site on the web in the US for the week ending March 13th, 2010. To put that little fact into perspective, it was the first time that a site other than Google has reached the top of the charts to conclude a week since 2007. Facebook accounted for over 7% of all web visits during this span. The momentum seems to continue building for Facebook as it was also the most visited site on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Day of this past year according to Hitwise.

In comparison to this period last year, Facebook has seen a market share growth of visits of 185%. So, the question is this - how well are you capitalizing on this market share? Social Media is viral in nature and captures the fastest growing audience on the net. We must adapt to the changing landscape of advertising and reaching our customers in order to stay competitive. How your business decides to react (or not react) to this change can be the difference of what separates your business from the competition.
